Sorry... call me a dreamer, but I can't wait for the day when any one of my family members escapes too!

What do you look forward to?
by choosing life insince the promises of many of us have been found to be lacking in truth, what do you look forward to in the distant future?.
i know we need to live for the day and enjoy our families and the little things, but do you have hope for a future where true justice will ever prevail?.

Quick! The Day of Jehovah Is Near (Again)
by Mary inthe december 15th craptower's message is coming close on the heals of the useless tract that all the dubs have just dropped off on an unsuspecting public.
the january 15th study article is called "the great day of jehovah is near yet again".
*** we are living deep in the "time of the end.

I wonder if the WTS was foolish enough to offer prophecy regarding another date, i.e. repeat the "75" debacle, how many dubs would leave this time?
I understand the Daniel "sealing up" reference as well as the WTS "proper food/new light" defense but still can't help but think that
if you claim to be Christian and claim that the Bible is the insipered/irrifutable word of God that the very attempt of calculating the date would make Jesus a liar. Even if the calculation is to a vague time period. Why can't they just leave it as "like a thief in the night"
Is the faithful and disceet slave rewarded for knowing when the master would return ---or--- for doing what the Master told him to do? Especially when the Master clearly stated that EVEN HE didn't know when He would return. -

Changing jobs...
by SoBizzy inmy boss and i were talking today about changing jobs - she said she would have loved to change jobs in her 40's (she's about 60 now) but she said everyone should change jobs about 1/2 way through their lives.. currently i work in the marketing department of a whitewater rafting outfitter in pennsylvania - and i think if i changed jobs it would be to become a writer.. so my question is what job would you like to change too and what do you currently do?.

Serendipity,
Seems like I remember a movie about a software designer that lived in Dallas, One character found a new career ( I think he worked at Initech before the fire) anyway...he said that he made more money selling magazines door-to-door. And hey, You've already got experience.... Just a thought.

Since the Exorcist was on AMC last night...
by Tuesday injust curious if there was a "demon-possessed" person in the hall, what is the guideline that the elders would have to follow through the society?
would they have to give up power to a catholic priest who might have expirience with this, or since they are the only "true" religion would they try to handle it on their own.
i'm just curious as to what would happen, it's a very unique situation that i haven't heard of happening in a witness setting.

Ok... that made me chuckle...
I wonder how long tell there's a "young people ask" article:
"With all the Demons having nothing better to do than set up house inside items that have been set aside for garage sales, should I, as a young person who loves Jehovah and his organization just avoid these Satanic garage sales entirely. Or can I just safely go to the garage sales of my faithful brothers and sisters from the Kingdom Hall. Also, If I eat a hamburger from a Demon possessed restaurant, how can I get rid of it... Should I enduce vomiting or just wait to poop it out later. If I do wait for it to pass naturally, would I be better off wiping my butt with a watchtower than toilet paper.... You can't be too careful, you know"
P.S. Brothers thank you so much for your recent answer to the question about masturbation... that was a hard problem to beat! Thanks for helping me stick it out. I just wish I could have licked it myself, but reading your thoughtful loving response sure killed my desire! The next time my hands get bored, I'll sure go knock on some doors instead!
Thanks,

What is your weirdest field service(study)experience?
by megsmomma ini was thinking about a bible study my mom's friend had when we were just getting in the borg.....it was with a woman who had several kids and lived in a real old run down house.
i was about 10 and the oldest kid among them, so i had to watch all the kids while they studied.
my lil brother was 3 and he had to go to the bathroom....well i took him in there and aparently they had no plumbing, so the toilet was full of sh*t and there were buckets of it in there too.....ewwwwwwww....my brother was very upset too and refused to go.

Hi Megsmomma,
I don't really have an extrordinary FS story but your's made me think....
Of course the WTS doesn't discourage approaching the "weird" ones.... perhaps because everyone should be counted as worthy of hearing the Good News... but perhaps because without the social "outcasts", how big would the orginization really be?
Let's be honest, who here really "fit into" the world even before they became witnesses. Despite the poor children born into this religion and who are screwed from the get-go... Just about every witness brother that I ever knew was a total dork. It's my hunch that they were like that before becoming a witness and the culture of dubs only reinforced their "dorkness"
I would imagine that the typical JW male youth has a lot in common with "Trekkies" and "Star Wars" geeks.... Just more misfits looking for something to belong to or get passionate about, regardless of it being science fiction (movies or religion)
Plus there's chicks there... those assemblies are absolute desperate, horny, sister meat markets!!!!
Sorry, got on a role and got off topic.... I may be free but guess I'm still a dork too!

Child abuse on WTS website
by gordon d inin light of the recent press against the wts on the issue of child abuse, i'm not sure if the posting on the wts site about sexual abuse of children is blatant hypocracy or an attept to show just how "bad" the problem is with other groups so that the few 100/1000 cases among dubs pales in comparison.
.
hello... mr. kettle, mr. pot here.... just thought you should know, you're black!

I'm a little confused about this forum
by gordon d ini know that i'm new here...and maybe this topic has already been covered.
i keep reading posts from members that make referrence to going to a meeting or going out in service..... holy crap?!?!?
what percentage of the people here still actually consider themselves as witnesses?????

Please forgive me if my questions offended any of you.
I've gained so much from the contributors of this forum and realize that there must people with far more to loose than I ever had to consider. So much of my family is still in the "truth" (in varying degrees)and my personal approach seems to have done little to open anyone else's eyes.
Whatever shunning I've received has been lessoned by people who haven't entirely cut me off and with some patient conversation, logic, objectivity, and the "real truth" some have even accepted that I have disassociated myself with the organization but actually grown in my relationship with Jehovah. I'm very fortunate in that regard.
In thinking about those forced to go out in FS, the story came to mind of Jeremiah Denton, the Vietnam POW (now Senator) forced make a video by the NVA denouncing the USA envolvement in Vietnam.... Off camera, gunmen were threatening his life. He read what they forced him to read but continued to blink out the word "t-o-r-t-u-r-e" in Morse code.
I'll be paying very close attention to the blinking habits the next time my door bell rings.
I love all of you that are searching for the truth and striving to do God's will... I hope I can be an asset instead of a stumbling block in your escape!

I'm not even sure what to say.... (perhaps I'm more naive than I thought)....
I just can't imagine being in the situation that some of you have described.
If I can help in any way, please let me know how. You'll all be in my prayers.
On the odd chance that any of you are out in FS in the Houston area and need a "return call" place to hang out... just let me know.
